DePaul’s Multicultural Marketing Program is the result of business professionals asking, “What can DePaul do to help businesses deal with and embrace diversity?"
How can we better prepare students for the challenges of today’s fragmented consumer markets? What are the business consequences of the explosive growth in the Hispanic population? How can we make sense of vast amounts of conflicting information about multicultural markets?
After numerous discussions between Chicago marketing professionals and DePaul faculty, the University created the Multicultural Marketing Program in response to these and other questions.
Our mission is to:
Our current focus is on undergraduate students and a professional curriculum, with graduate courses to be added. Multicultural marketing will include Hispanic, African-American and Asian segments of the population.
DePaul’s heritage of educating first-generation college students and immigrant populations positions us well for this program. Over half of the undergraduates in the College of Commerce identify themselves as a member of a racial or ethnic minority. Almost 40 percent of recent freshmen are the first generation in their families to attend college.
